Maurice Richards (born 1983 in Mobile, Alabama),best known by the stage name Rich Boy is a rapper who is currently living in Mobile, Alabama. He's best known for his debut single "Throw Some D's". Early in 2005, he released a promo single "Get to Poppin'". His debut album Rich Boy was released in early 2007. He has worked with producers such as Kanye West, Polow Da Don, Richard "Saint" Tam, Robert McKinley and Timbaland. He is currently signed to Interscope Records/Interscope South and Zone 4 Inc. Records.

Born and raised in Mobile, Alabama, Rich Boy grew up in an upbringing with both positive and negative influences. His father owns a liquor store in the middle of the hood where Rich Boy witnessed dope fiends, drive-bys, and all types of mischief first hand. He idolized the drug dealers and was soon rolling with them. He stopped when he saw the adverse effect it had on his mother and credits his mother for keeping him in church to help him.

As a youth, he was influenced by Southern rap legends like UGK, 8-Ball & MJG, Crime Boss, and ESG. The rap scene in Mobile always thrived, but he admits that getting on the local radio is no easy task. Undaunted, he would finagle his way into the local radio station (93 WBLX) by claiming to have an appointment with a station DJ in order to get by reception. He eventually got his music into the hands of evening personality Nick @ Nite, The Krunkmonster, who started playing Rich Boy's "Cold as Ice".

Shortly afterward, Atlanta area rap outfit Jim Crow came to the station promoting their latest album, and Rich Boy made it his business to hand a copy of his CD to group member Polow the Don, who encouraged Rich Boy to rap after hearing the CD. Polow then flew Rich Boy out to Atlanta to get him into the studio recording, coincidently around the same time Jazze Pha also heard Rich Boy's music and coordinated to fly him down to see Cash Money's Mannie Fresh; he started building relationships with both camps. In Atlanta, Rich Boy stayed with local rapper Bubba Sparxxx and signed with Polow’s own Zone 4 Entertainment, which eventually partnered with Interscope Records.

The album has diverse beats with production credits including Timbaland, Kanye West, Polow, Jazze Pha, and Needlez. Lyrically, Rich Boy tells stories of growing up in Mobile and his reaction to the experiences of others.
